Say hi to Daniel, our Commercial Director!

Since 2008, Daniel has grown with UMV and now drives solutions helping clients move toward a sustainable, paper-based future. Get to know him better in this brief interview where he shares insights from his job.

What has your journey at UMV looked like?

I started at UMV back in 2008 as an Applications Engineer. At that time, my work mainly involved preparing documentation and technical specifications for our sales team. After a few years, I had the opportunity to move into sales myself and eventually became Sales Director.

When it was time to appoint a new Managing Director around 2018, I was asked to take on the role. I did so for a period, but soon realised it wasn’t quite the right fit for me. During that time, I had hired a new Sales Director, so when I stepped down as MD, I returned to sales. Today, my title is Commercial Director, which suits me perfectly.

What do you find most exciting about introducing UMV’s solutions, and what does a typical customer journey look like for you?

It usually starts with a customer who has a specific problem – that becomes the foundation for the whole journey. We try to really understand their challenge and work together to find the right solution. For me, it’s all about being attentive, open and honest about what can realistically be achieved.

When everything falls into place and we can deliver something that truly helps the customer, that’s a great feeling. But the journey doesn’t end with delivery – it continues through service and follow-up to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Which trend or development in the industry do you notice most at the moment?

The biggest change right now is the transition from plastic to paper. It’s creating a lot of movement and uncertainty – no one yet knows what the final solution will look like. That’s why, at UMV, we focus on staying flexible and keeping an open mind towards different possibilities, rather than locking ourselves into one specific direction.

What do you like to do when you want to switch off from work for a while?

I’m a big sports fan – I watch just about everything, but especially winter sports and ice hockey. Färjestad is, of course, my team. Besides that, I enjoy spending time with my family and our dog, and staying active myself. I used to play a lot of hockey and tennis, but these days it’s mostly time spent at the gym.
