Get to know Håkan, President of UMV

Get to know Håkan, President of UMV, his journey in the company, UMV’s core values, and how he drives innovation. In this interview, he also shares insights on the company’s future and his personal interests.

Hi Håkan! Can you tell us about your journey at UMV?

“I started at UMV back in 1986, working as a mechanical designer and development engineer until 2000. I then took a four-year break to explore other opportunities before returning in 2004 as Head of Development. In 2014, I became Chief Operating Officer while continuing my role in development. In 2018, I was appointed Acting President, which later became a permanent position, and that’s where I am today.”

Which values best reflect the culture at UMV?

“Trust and common sense. We support each other as a team, and there’s a great atmosphere where everyone enjoys working together.”

How do you and your team drive innovation forward?

“Everyone has good ideas, and I make sure all suggestions are welcomed and encouraged. Our pilot unit is a key tool – it allows us to develop and test new solutions in our operations. Innovation, along with customer focus, is definitely a core value for the organization, and we never let go of it.”

How do you see the company evolving over the next five years?

“I’m optimistic. We are currently in a low economic cycle, which affects some customers, with investment freezes in certain areas. However, we have five strong pillars – machinery, volume production (INVO Tip), spare parts, the pilot unit, and service – so we’re in a solid position. I’m confident we will continue to grow steadily in the years ahead.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“I’m passionate about cars, especially vintage cars from the 1960s, which has been a long-time interest. I also enjoy spending time on our boat during the summer with my wife.”
