UMV participates in new barrier coating course in India
UMV continues to support knowledge sharing and innovation in the packaging industry – this time by joining a new course in India focused on barrier coating and sustainable fiber-based materials. The course takes place June 3–5 and gathers experts and professionals from the Indian paper and converting sector.
Last fall, UMV co-hosted a successful course on the same topic in Säffle, Sweden. Now, a new event with a similar focus is being organized in India, and UMV is proud to participate both as attendees and as a sponsor.
In addition to participating and sponsoring, UMV will also give a presentation on coating methods – an important highlight of the event that underscores the company’s technical expertise.
The course highlights the need for barrier coatings to enable paper to replace plastic in demanding applications, especially where recycling infrastructure is lacking. It also includes foundational insights into papermaking for participants without a technical background in the field.
As global industries search for alternatives to plastic packaging, paper has emerged as a renewable and biodegradable option. However, to be truly functional, paper often requires additional barrier properties. That’s where coating technology plays a vital role – and where innovation can unlock sustainable solutions.
UMV is excited to contribute with our experience and to learn from new perspectives in one of the world’s most dynamic packaging markets.
