Basic coating course for engineers

UMV Coating Systems AB and Envall Consulting offer a basic course in coating for process engineers or other persons working in similar positions. The course is highly interactive and works with real problems. Participants will get the opportunity to run a pilot coating machine to study effects of various parameters and why these effects occur. A major portion of the course involves coating chemistry presented interactively!

The goal of the course is to provide participants with a good basic knowledge of coating. It places great importance on how theoretical models can be practiced in reality. Further emphasis is placed on end-users’ requirements for specific printing characteristics.

The course includes the following topics:

• Coating formulas and compositions
• Coating preparation
• General coating technology
• Analytical technology and how it is utilized in real settings
• Detailed coating technology
• New coating technology such as Invo Tip, drying technology and the printing technology associated with coating,
• Interactive lab exercises
• Training on a pilot machine
• Group sessions regarding customer problems
• Troubleshooting

Marco Saarela, who has many years of experience of coating from Modo Holmen, leads the main part of the course. Other experts in the field of coating lead the other parts.

The course also looks at other important issues such as: What does the future have in store for coating?
